About me

I have been making pots for over fifty years starting with the support of excellent ceramicists at South Hill Park Arts in Bracknell. Progressing from an electric to a propane fired kiln I discovered the fascination of high fired stoneware under reduction conditions. Making mostly domestic ware I have developed my own glazes often using locally grown wood ash. I like the fact that elements of local ancient oak trees are encapsulated for ever in my pots. Recently I have added Raku firing to my interests, the Japanese technique of removing red hot pots from the kiln and plunging then into sawdust or other organic material, producing dramatic and unexpected results.I am a member of West Forest Potters.

Occasionally I also make automaton.
